తెలుగు నీతి కథ: *తాబేలు తెలివి*

*అడవిలో ఓ పులి ఉండేది. దానికి అందరూ భయపడేవాళ్లు. దానికి కోప మెక్కువ అంటూ మిగతా జంతువులు అనుకునేవి.*

*దాని దగ్గర విధేయులుగా ఉండకుంటే మాత్రం ప్రాణాలు తీసేస్తుంది. అట్లాంటి పులి అది. ఒక రోజు పులి దారిలో వెళ్తుంది.*

*జింకలు, నక్కలు, దుప్పులు పరిగెడుతున్నాయి. అయితే ఓ తాబేలు మాత్రం మెల్లగా నడుస్తోంది. తల బైట పెట్టి దర్జాగా తిరుగుతోంది. గడ్డిని తింటూ నడుస్తోంది.*

*తాబేలు తీరు చూసిన పులి ఒకింత కోపంతో ఉడికిపోయింది. 'నేను వస్తూంటే.. నీకు అంత కండకావరమా?' అంటూ గాండ్రించింది.*

*క్షమించండి.. అంటూ తాబేలు కోరింది. 'నా దగ్గరే నీ నాటకాలా?' అన్నది పులి. 'నా తీరే అంత. నేను పరిగెత్తలేను. ఇది సహజంగా వచ్చినది. ప్రకృతి ప్రసాదించినది'*

*అంటూ చెబుతోంటే పులి వినలేదు. కోపంతో తాబేలును నోట కరచుకుని పరిగెత్తింది. తాబేలు భయపడి తన కాళ్లను, తలను చిప్పలోపల పెట్టుకుంది.*

*పులి పరిగెత్తుతోంది. తాబేలు భయపడిపోయింది. చీకటి అయింది. అయినా తాబేలును వదల్లేదు పులి. అబ్బా.. నోరు నొప్పి పుడుతోంది.. అంటూ తాబేలును కిందకి విసరి వేసింది. కాలితో తాబేలును తన్నింది. తాబేలు మాత్రం తల బయటకు పెట్టలేదు.*

*కొద్దిసేపటి తర్వాత పులి అడిగింది.. ' నీ శరీర పైభాగం రాయిలా ఉన్నది. ఏమీ కథ' అన్నది. 'దానివల్లే నేను బతుకుతున్నా. వదిలేయండి' అంటూ క్షమాపణలు కోరింది. 'ఈ పైభాగం పెంకు మెత్తగా కావాలంటే? ఎలా అని ఆలోచించింది.*

*ఈ లోపు తాబేలు మిత్రుడైన నక్క అక్కడికొచ్చింది. 'అయ్యా.. అంత కష్టాలెందుకు. దాని మీద ఉండే గట్టి భాగం నీళ్లలో వేస్తే మెత్తగా అవుతుంది' అన్నది. పులి సంతోషించింది. దగ్గరగా ఉండే ఓ కొలను దగ్గరకు పోయింది తాబేలును తీసుకుని.*

*నీళ్లలో విడిచి కాలితో తొక్కి పెట్టింది. తాబేలును. అయినా తాబేలు క్షణాల్లో తప్పించుకుంది. పక్కకు చూస్తే నక్క కూడా లేదు. పులికి విషయం అర్థమైంది. అలా నక్క తెలివితో తాబేలు బతికింది.*

*There once lived an elephant in a jungle. He was very arrogant and short-tempered. He was very proud of his strength and huge body.*

*The other animals in the jungle feared him a lot. He enjoyed doing things that showed off his strength and always troubled other small animals in the jungle.*

*In that jungle, there also lived a family of ants in a tiny hole. The ant used to despise the elephant for his haughty nature. One day, when the ants were away to collect food, the elephant stopped them and sprayed a trunk full of water on them.*

*The ants got angry and said,” You should not trouble others for your pleasure.”The elephant shouted angrily and said,” You tiny creatures, keep quiet, or I will crush you to death.”*

*Now, the ants decided to reach the arrogant animal a lesson for life. They slowly crept under his trunk and spread to his ears and started biting him. The elephant became restless and started crying for help.*

*None of the animals came forward to rescue him. They were happy to see him getting punished for his acts. He kept apologizing to the ants, but they continued to bite him.*

*When they were sure that he has learned his lesson, they let him go and said, “This is how others feel when you hurt them.” The ants marched off leaving a wailing elephant there. Then on, the elephant never troubled anyone in the jungle.*

Moral: *Pride and arrogance never go unpunished.*

*తెలుగు నీతి కథ - *పిచ్చుక కాకి*

*ఒకానొకప్పుడు ఒక ఊరిలో ఒక అమాయకపు పిచుక వుండేది. మనసులో ఏ కల్మషంలేని ఆ పిచుకకో ఒక రోజు ఒక కాకుల గుంపు పరిచయం అయ్యింది. ఆ కాకులతో పిచుకకి స్నేహం అయ్యింది.*

*పిచుకకి అందరూ చెప్పారు – ఆ కాకులతో స్నేహం చేయద్దు, అవి మంచివి కావు, అని. కాని ఆ పిచుక మాట వినలేదు.*

*ఒక రోజు కాకుల గుంపు ఎటో వెళ్తూ పిచుకను కూడా తోడు రమ్మన్నాయి. అమాయక పిచుక ఎక్కడకి, ఎందుకు అని అడగకుండా, ఆ కాకులను గుడ్డిగా నమ్మి వాటితో వెళ్ళింది.*

*కాకులు ఒక పొలానికి వెళ్లి అక్కడ మొక్కలన్నిటిని ధ్వంసం చేయ సాగాయి. పిచుక నిస్సహాయంగా ఏమి చేయాలో తెలీకా అటూ ఇటూ గెంతుతూ వుంది.*

*ఇంతలో ఆ పొలం రైతులు పరిగెత్తుకుంటూ వచ్చి ఒక పెద్ద కర్రతో ఆ కాకులను కొట్టడం మొదలెట్టారు. కాకుల గుంపుకు ఇది అలవాటే, అవి తుర్రున ఎగిరిపోయాయి.*

*పిచుక రైతులకు దొరికిపోయింది.*

*“బాబోయ్! బాబోయ్! నా తప్పేమీ లేదు, నేను అమాయకురాలిని, నేనేమీ చేయలేదు, నన్ను వదిలేయండి!” అని పిచుక ప్రాధేయ పడింది.*

*కాని పంట నాశనం అయిన రైతులు కోపం మీద ఉన్నారు. పిచుక మాట నమ్మలేదు కదా, దాని వైపు అసహ్యంగా చూసి మరో రెండు దెబ్బలు వేసారు.*

*ఇతరులు మన మిత్రులను చూసి మన గుణం ఏమిటో నిర్దారించుకుంటారు. అందుకే మనం మంచి గా వున్న, మన స్నేహితులు చేడువారైతే మనం కూడా చెడ్డ వాళమనే అనుకుంటారు.*

*The King’s Painting*

*There was a king with only one leg and one eye but was generous and competent as a ruler. One day while walking in his palace, the king noticed the portraits of his ancestors along the hallway.*

*He also wanted his portrait painted by an artist but was unsure how it would turn out due to his physical abnormalities.*

*The King invited all the painters across the kingdoms and asked who could paint a beautiful picture of him.*

*The painters were confused about how to make a beautiful picture of the King with only one leg and one eye.*

*All the painters politely refused to make a painting of the King.*

*Then one young painter came forward and ensured to make a beautiful portrait of the King.*

*After a few days, the young painter unveiled the portrait in the court in which the King was seen sitting on the horse with one leg visible, holding his bow and aiming the arrow with one eye closed.*

*There was no sign of physical deficiencies in the king in the painting.*

*The King was pleased to see that the painter had creatively presented the King’s positive characteristics but not highlighted the abnormalities.*

Moral: *Look at the positive aspects of someone without emphasizing the limitations.*

తెలుగు నీతి కథ: *కాకి కోపం!*

*ఒక అడవిలో రిన్నీ అనే కుందేలు, పెన్నీ అనే ఎలుక ఉండేవి. వాటికి చదువంటే ఇష్టం. ఒక రోజు బడికి వెళ్లి వస్తుంటే.. చెట్టుమీద కాకి కనపడింది. దాని పేరు సన్నీ. కావాలనే రిన్నీ కుందేలు కాకిని ఆటపట్టించాలనుకుంది.*

*‘మా లాంటి విద్యార్థులకే తెలివి ఎక్కువ ఉంటుంది. మీలాంటి వాటికి మెదడు ఉండదు’ అన్నది. కాకికి కోపం వచ్చింది. ‘చూడు.. పిల్లలూ. మీరు తెలివి లేని వాళ్లు. మీకో విషయం తెలుసా.. మా తాతగారు అప్పట్లో తెలివైనవాళ్లు. కుండలో నీళ్లు పైకి రాకపోతే రాళ్లు వేసి.. పైకి వచ్చాక తాగారట. అదీ తెలివంటే.*

*మేము పుట్టుకతోనే తెలివైన వాళ్లం. కాకుల తెలివి ఎవరికి ఉంటుంది.. అన్నది. రిన్నీ కుందేలు.. ఖంగుతిన్నది. ‘ఏదేమైనా చెప్పు చదువుకున్న వాళ్లకంటే.. చదువు లేని వాళ్లకు చెప్పటం కష్టం. సులువుగా మోసపోతారు’ అన్నది పెన్నీ ఎలుక. కోపంతో రివ్వున కాకి ఎగిరిపోయింది.*

*కొన్నాళ్లు గడిచాక.. రిన్నీ, పెన్నీలు అడవిలోకి వచ్చాయి తిండి కోసం. బాగా ఆడుకున్నాయి. తిండి దొరకలేదు. అయితే నీళ్లు దప్పికగా ఉన్నాయని రిన్నీ కుందేలు తన మిత్రుడితో చెప్పింది.*

*పెన్నీ ఎలుక దగ్గరలో ఉండే ఒక కుంటను చూసింది. అది లోతట్టులో ఉంది. దాంట్లోకి పడిపోతే అంతే సంగతులు అనుకుంది పెన్నీ. అంతలోనే రిన్నీ కుందేలుకు చటుక్కున ఆలోచన వచ్చింది.*

*‘డియర్‌ పెన్నీ.. మనకు తెలిసిన సన్నీ కాకి ఉంది కదా దగ్గరలో. దాని దగ్గరకు వెళ్దాం’ అన్నది. ఇద్దరు మిత్రులూ కాకి దగ్గరకు వెళ్లారు. కాకి కోపంగా ఉంది. ‘చదువుకున్న వాళ్లు ఇక్కడికి ఎందుకు వచ్చారో’ అన్నది. విషయం చెప్పారు.*

*‘ముందే చెప్పా కదా.. మా తాతయ్యలు తెలివైనవాళ్లు. నా తెలివిని గ్రహించి ఇక్కడికొచ్చారు మీరు’ అన్నది. కుంట దగ్గరకు పోయారు. ఆ నీళ్లను చూసి ఆ ఇద్దరు పిల్లలతో ఇలా అంది.. ‘పిల్లలూ ..*

*నేను రాళ్లను తీసుకొస్తా. మీరు కట్టెపుల్లలు వేయండి. పెద్ద కొమ్మలు కూడా వేయండి’ అన్నది. కాకి దూరంగా ఉండే గుట్ట మీదకు వెళ్లి రాళ్లు తీసుకొచ్చి వేస్తోంది. వంద రాళ్లు వేసింది. రిన్నీ, పెన్నీలు దుంగలు, కొమ్మలు వేసినా నీళ్లు పైకి రాలేదు.*

*సన్నీతో రిన్నీ ఇలా అన్నది. ‘చూడు సన్నీ. వందరాళ్లను వంద రోజులు ఈ నీళ్లలో వేసినా ఉపయోగం లేదు. నీళ్లు పైకి రాకపోగా.. బురద అవుతాయి. ఇక చాలు నీ తెలివి’ అన్నది. కాకి నిజమేనని మనసులో అనుకుంది. అయితే వొప్పుకోలేదు.*

*మాటల మధ్యలో పెన్నీ ఎలుక ఇలా అన్నది.. ‘చదువుకున్న వాళ్లకంటే చదువురాని వాళ్లు ఎప్పటికీ తక్కువే’ అన్నది. చిట్టెలుక మాటలకు కాకి హర్ట్‌ అయింది. కోప్పడింది. చేసేదేమీ లేక రివ్వున గాల్లోకి ఎగిరిపోయింది.*

*‘సమాధానం చెప్పకుండా కోపంగా వెళ్లిపోతే ఎలా అన్నది’ కుందేలు. ఇద్దరూ నవ్వుకున్నారు.*

*A crow rode on the back of a goat. It ordered the goat to run this way and that way.*

*The foolish goat obeyed the crow’s orders. The crow had a happy ride on the goat’s back.*

*The goat became tired. But the crow urged the goat to run more and more. The goat lost his patience.*

*The goat said angrily, “I can’t bear this insult any more.*

*Just imagine what will happen if you do the same thing to a dog.*

*He would bite you and tear you to pieces.” The crow said, “I tease cowards only.*

*I trouble them in many ways. I avoid the brave ones. I give them respect.”*

*It is the lot of cowards to suffer humiliations.*
