(00:00) This makeup product right here is dirtier than a toilet seat. Now, it is very common for us women to walk into a mall, look at this fancy makeup showroom, and try on some testers because, well, we're apprehensive about a particular lipstick shade. But, we also know that we're not the first ones to try out this tester.
(00:17) And how bad can this one tester be? The answer is really bad. Now, according to a study in the UK in 2019, a couple of makeup tester products were used, and they were tested for viruses. The results? A whopping 70 to 90% of these testers were awfully contaminated with viruses, bacteria, and pathogens.
(00:36) So, when people try on a makeup product on their lips or even on their skin, saliva, sweat, dead skin cells, and viruses such as HPV and herpes enter your system. This is exactly like using someone else's toothbrush, and much worse. As little as one swipe can infect your immune system and give you lifelong diseases. So, how do you test a product? First, always use an alcohol swipe to wipe the upper surface of the tester and then apply.
(01:03) Never consider using these testers directly [music] on your lips, face, or eyes. Consider swatching testers on your wrist instead, and make sure to never swatch on open cuts.
