(01:53) Khadar Vali Dudekula, very fondly called the Millet Man of India. He completed his PhD in steroids at the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, and he became a post-doctoral fellow in environmental science in Beaverton, Oregon, in the United States. Dr. Khadar Vali received the Padma Shri for his distinguished contributions to agriculture through millet promotion and nutritional advocacy.
(02:14) He also received the BRICS CCI Agriculture Visionary Award presented by former President Ram Nath Kovind for visionary leadership in agricultural innovation. His relentless efforts has played the most significant role in turning millets from a neglected and forgotten grains into a single powerhouse of a solution for global food security, climate resilience, and chronic disease reversal.
(02:40) He revived the positive five millets, which he termed Siri Dhanya, and cultivated them through the jungle farming method called Kaduk Krishi. He started the Hasiru Honey clinic, training doctors to use traditional food systems to heal people, and that's what they still do today. I just completed this conversation, and I feel so immensely honored and grateful that my very first podcast was with Dr.
(03:05) Khadar Vali sir. His knowledge on health and nutrition has influenced me immensely in my own personal health journey, and it is because of all of your overwhelming response to my humble video that made this dream of mine come true today. I myself have been having humble bee and millets for years together and I have personally witnessed the wisdom and all your knowledge. So, I'm extremely phenomenally grateful for you to be here, sir. >> [laughter] >> No, this is very physical.
(04:07) The effects are based on the food science. [clears throat] >> Mhm. >> So, human race has not acknowledged the ancestral grains and it's wellness. I mean, basically people mistake millets to heal diabetes, to heal cancer. But, that's not the main >> main thing. >> purpose of millets is to keep human race healthy. >> Yeah. >> So, diseases are the next level.
(04:38) So, the first and foremost important thing is to keep human race healthy. God has made millets. >> But, [snorts] what is so special in millets that is not there in any other grains? >> Basically, the fiber content and the structure of the grain itself. >> Mhm. >> So, it's not that other things do not have fiber. But, [snorts] what is the way it operates in our physiology associated with our body is that it releases glucose slowly and steadily.
(05:15) >> Mhm. >> And that's where it has the thousand points more than anything. >> Anything else. >> Anything [clears throat] else. >> Mhm. >> Say, if you eat fruit, it also releases slowly, but the fiber content, the efficiency [snorts] is very less. >> Mhm. Mhm. The efficiency of that fiber. >> Of that fiber and that's called nascent fiber.
(05:40) All grains, vegetables, and all have >> Nascent and also simply to put it very simply >> Just Just not new. >> Huh. Just born. >> [clears throat] >> So, just born. Just born fiber. Then when you come to roots and tubers, if you go to Madikeri side, they eat lots of tubers. They used to, rather. >> [laughter] >> Now only they are not. Some are good days, some are not good days. Some are not good days.
(06:09) There are many, almost 30 varieties of this tubers. They have immature fiber. So, the the the nascent fiber has become immature. Then the grains, millet grains have the matured fiber, which in technical terms called aromatic fiber. So, that's where it scores very high. Because it has the capacity to release the glucose from the grain slowly and steadily into your blood pool.
(06:41) Hence, the homeostasis. That is the glucose balance is preserved 24/7. >> Oh, is that why you feel full also for a longer period of time? >> Yeah, because whenever your body requires, it will release it. Whereas rice, wheat and other things, as soon as you eat within 15-20 minutes, everything is dumped into your blood.
(07:05) So now, after 20 minutes, you start looking for food. >> Again, yeah. >> It's satiety is not there. And [clears throat] so, what happens is you are now in a fooled world. You you don't need it, but you think you need it. >> [laughter] >> Keep eating. >> So, what do you do with the excess glucose? You start putting on weight, you get a BP, you get diabetes.
(07:27) All these things happen. >> Connected. >> And that's what I keep telling that millets are designed to keep you healthy. And as the time goes by, excess glucose is completely carried outside because the fiber takes it away and >> Oh, wow. >> So, even if you eat more of it >> Excess of it. >> It has the regulation. >> Yeah.
(07:48) >> And that's the big technical term if you want to communicate is a regulating fiber. >> Huh. >> All are fibers. >> Huh. >> But this is regulating fiber. >> And then can you like simply explain the difference? >> releasing glucose to the extent that you need to keep you healthy. That balance.
(08:09) Homeostasis of the blood is going to balance and What are we talking about the balance? Glucose balance. >> Yeah. >> So, you need glucose in the bloodstream because that's what is burnt and you get energy. >> Right. >> But then if you dump too much >> Too much. Yeah, the body cannot >> body the blood becomes thick and your heart starts getting that tension.
(08:29) Yeah, it has to pump thickened blood. >> Mhm. >> So, when you have BP, you go to doctor, they will say take blood thinner. >> Yes. Yes. I It's like the first thing in the [laughter] protocol is a blood thinner. >> Blood thinner. So, what it means is that you have made somehow your blood thick. >> Yeah. >> So, we'll give you blood thinner.
(08:46) But then if you are eating millets that situation doesn't arise at all lifelong. >> Right. >> So, when you get BP, you're advised lifelong tablet. >> Yes. >> So, when you eat millets, you can avoid lifelong the doctor. >> Yes, you're very true. So, I have a person in my family having hypertension. So, nothing was asked, just tablets were given and somewhere it is a preconceived understanding that you have to maintain after. It is understood by both doctors.
(09:11) >> [laughter] >> No, it's a common knowledge now. All are floating in that. Such a sad state. Such a sad state. >> So, >> So, it eliminates all this because of this technical system designed within by God that it releases glucose slowly and steadily. There is no moment in your bloodstream that you have glucose spike.
(09:34) When you eat five idlis of white rice, you have 30 to 40 g of glucose accumulated in That's called spike. That's it. So, you are well less. >> Right. >> Depends on what you put in your mouth. >> So, that the mature fiber is the regulatory fiber. >> Regulatory fiber. >> So, only when the fiber is mature, it is it has the capability to regulate.
(09:58) >> And immature fiber has say maybe if you give 100 points to the mature fiber, this has around 20 or 20 15, that kind of value. >> That, okay. >> And then if you come to the nascent fiber, it has five or six. >> Even lesser. >> Even less. So, you can clearly get >> Yeah. >> 5 15 100. >> 100, yeah.
(10:19) [laughter] So, that becomes like a proper full meal. >> a full meal. So, you have nascent fiber, immature fiber, mature fiber. >> Amazing, yeah. >> And that's how Charaka said your food should be. >> So, this was mentioned the regulatory fiber aspect was mentioned in the book. >> Not in these terms as because I'm a modern I'm telling, but Charaka said your food should be complete only when you have greens and leafy vegetables, roots and tubers.
(10:43) Davasadhanya >> Davasadhanya >> This is the definition of your food. >> Food. >> Very clearly given. Paramparika, ancestral wisdom. >> Correct, yeah. >> See, and they also said that whenever you are hungry, you eat. And when you are not hungry, don't eat. This is the first rule. >> [laughter] >> But of course, nowadays lot of confusion.
(11:13) People say eat before after sunrise. All that is second level rules. First level is when you are hungry, you eat. >> Eat. >> Otherwise, don't eat. >> Yeah, simply. >> Simply don't [laughter] eat. You are hungry See, that signal of hunger is what tells you to eat. >> Correct. >> That means your body is ready. >> Right. >> And just because it is time 1:30, I have to eat. At 4:30, I have to drink.
(11:36) 8:30 because doctor told you to do so. That is a complete wrong information. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, what about you have positive millets and then you have neutral and you have negative millets? Can you just explain >> Yeah, the same thing. Now, we divided the food in that fashion. Now, we're dividing the millets themselves based on the amount and quality, quantity of the fiber within.
(11:59) So, major millets have got our ragi, finger millet has 3.6%. fiber >> fiber >> It is arranged in layer by layer. And you have pearl millet. bajra. 1.3 or 1.2. Then you have jowar, 2.2. >> even lesser. >> And you have baragu, that is proso millet, 2.2 or something. So, 3.6 is the highest in the major millets. That is the ragi.
(12:31) 3.6, 1.2, 1.3 or 2.2, like that. >> Like that. >> Whereas you come to minor millets, the foxtail millet starts at 8%. >> Yeah. >> [snorts] >> 9% is kodo. >> Yeah. >> 9.8 is barnyard. 10 is 9.8 is little millet. 10 is barnyard. 12.5 is your brown top. Uh so, you see the difference. >> Yeah, huge difference. >> Huge difference.
(13:02) And that's how the regulatory power of glucose release is way up in these five grains and way low in the major millets. >> In the major millets. >> So, that means if you're already sick, you have problems, then only this regulatory fiber quality and quantity >> can do the reversal. >> can do the reversal. Whereas these guys cannot do the reversal.
(13:24) But imagine you have been eating ragi, bajra, you >> will not have troubles. You will not be spiking your thing and you know it's slow and steady. Everything is >> Yeah. >> hunky-dory. But then once you become sick because you're not just eating ragi, jowar, you're also eating wheat, you're also eating sugar, you're also drinking coffee.
(13:44) This fiber is not good enough to protect you from the ill effects of the other things. >> Other things, huh. It's not that powerful enough. >> Powerful enough, yeah. Yeah, that is it. So now you have become sick. Your HbA1c is 10. >> Mhm. >> Without medicines, how can I reverse? I have to make the blood first thin and then remove the glucose that is attached to your hemoglobin. HbA1c is your now 10.
(14:11) >> Right. >> So all these reversal processes can be achieved by this quality and quantity of fiber. And that's why we refer to as positive millets. >> Positive millets. >> And you will get you get the wellness. You get into that wellness domain positive nature. These guys, they do work but not any efficient enough.
(14:36) So and if you're not accumulating all the other things, they themselves by become wellness but it is not as >> Yeah. Comparatively it is >> So that's why we call them neutral millets. >> But is there some signs of how this reversal happens when Yeah, basically within the body? >> Within the body you are not accumulating glucose because there is no spike.
(14:58) >> Mhm. >> So you have already spiked and spoiled your bloodstream and toxic things are accumulated. >> Mhm. >> Now over a period of time I am eating a food that does not give glucose spikes and extra glucose is not there. >> Mhm. >> So now whatever is accumulated, that is going to be drawn because this fiber >> Yeah.
(15:17) >> excess fiber which was not there before >> Huh. >> now is floating in your blood. >> Right. >> So it start picking >> So wow. >> all the toxic things and then your cholesterol is removed from your heart arteries of the heart. So your BP starts falling into the right place. And then the hemoglobin being attached by glucose >> Mhm.
(15:38) >> is taken away because >> Mhm. >> this glucose has not come now. You have eaten. But glucose is already there. >> Right. >> So the blood recognizes and hey, throw switches off. >> [laughter] >> So oh, glucose is there. I'm not going to give you glucose. >> Right. >> That is the beauty of regulatory fiber. >> Regulatory fiber.
(15:55) >> And it also has the capacity to absorb the toxic things that are already there. >> Mhm. >> So over a period of 3 months to 6 months, depending on how long you have been >> [laughter] >> Correct. >> sick and accumulated >> Accumulating. That also depends how the >> [laughter] >> Yes, the good eating eating yeah.
(16:11) >> Yeah, true. >> That slowly be removed. >> Yeah. >> So if you're just recently fallen sick, your diabetes is recent. Within 3 weeks you can get rid of the problem. >> So that way diabetes and your heart and BP are somewhere all interconnected. >> All are same. >> Interconnected and >> Not connected. >> [laughter] >> They are all same.
(16:32) High glucose, if it is troubling your heart, it is BP. If it is troubling your thyroid, it is thyroid problem. So everything is excess glucose. >> Right. >> Even your skin looking bad is also excess glucose accumulated under the skin. >> Right. But we call it with different names depending on the organ. >> Yeah, but that's because all the want to confuse you.
(16:53) >> [laughter] >> Different names and different things. >> But everything is same. It's because of excess sugar that you are loading into your bloodstream. >> Mhm. But sir, [snorts] this rice also right now like in Tamil Nadu we have rice. You have different kinds of black rice and different you know, shades, brown, different ones of browns.
(17:14) And there are different claims that this is more healthier? >> among the rice >> [laughter] >> one may be better than the other. >> I mix them, compare to each other. >> 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, like that. But then when it comes to millets, they pale to nothingness. It's like elephant is coming. >> [laughter] >> You're talking about rabbit, rat, and things like that.
(17:34) >> Okay. Yeah, that's a good perspective. >> perspective. When you eat millets, your wellness is like elephant. It's just >> [laughter] >> So, what about now? There are many other like worldwide if you travel, there are so many different kinds of fermented food. Kombucha, idli, vada. They're like sauerkraut, curds, yogurt.
(17:51) And then ambli. So, is there any difference in this case? >> of the fermented foods that you have mentioned is anaerobic. >> Huh. >> That means without oxygen, there are certain microbes that can do good for you. >> Can you explain that in very simple anaerobic? >> Milk doesn't have fiber. And what it means is it is working on the fat.
(18:15) It is working on the protein. It is working on the lactose that is present in that. So, the microbes, the bacteria, does not require oxygen to ferment. Your idli, dosa. >> Correct. Even they are anaerobic. >> Huh, the protein. There are little fungus is also involved in that. So, the whole thing is not more than 5 to 10 set of bacteria or fungus together.
(18:42) These are all anaerobic. >> Anaerobic. >> That means without oxygen, they function and it is basically hydrogenated. Okay? Whereas ambli, because of its matured fiber, allows the oxygen to set in and aerobic microbes get in. In fact, almost some 17 to 18,000 varieties of bacteria, which work in tandem, synchronized fashion.
(19:10) >> 17 to 18,000. >> Yes. >> And this is about five or six? >> Five or six. >> Oh my god, yeah. >> So, so when you take buttermilk and when you take Ambali, again, put it into perspective. If this wellness rating is one, this may be one lakh or 10 [laughter] lakh. >> Uncomparable, yeah. Uncomparable. >> Because you have trillions of this different diversified microbes >> Right.
(19:36) >> uh encapsulated or living in your silic >> Mhm. >> So, the warmth and wellness they bless you >> Correct. How so? >> absolutely different. And you can see practically once you take three weeks >> Mhm. >> of millet Ambali, you see different energy in your >> [laughter] >> body. >> I have seen that, sir. >> Just amazing.
(20:01) Only people who have experienced Ambali drinking, you know, it's it's incredibly different and human race has lost that. Has lost that. >> Mhm. >> And whatever little gut micro biome you have is because of the immature fiber of some tubers, the greens that you are eating, yeah, little little little. That is there.
(20:24) In fact, if you were to go back, say, 1900s and then check humans gut microbiome, it used to be 2.2 kilos. >> Kilos. >> Now it has come to 1.1 or something. >> Yeah. That is why all the gut issues are But, sir, the 17 to 18,000 species means they are literally all species of bacteria, all diverse. >> Not all. Yeah, diversified.
(20:47) Diversified, but the nature contains trillion varieties of bacteria. Well, we are blessed to have that much. Now, the rabbit will have different set of things. Horse will have different set. Cow will have different set. Dog has a >> So, that depends on >> on the species to species and that association So we are lucky that we can actually provide what you need from this pool of micro we can generate with millet fiber the matured fiber.
(21:21) But of course you can also do the fermentation with roots and tubers which many of Madikeri old methods you can see. They take with the RB root or In fact if you go to Nigeria, South African countries they have cassava. They actually pound pound and keep it in the sun and then they soak in the night and then cook and put it in a actually they put it in what do you call bottle gourd? They dry the bottle gourd and that itself fermentation vessel because air can enter.
(22:00) So there also you have aerobic fermentation. So the difference between fermentations is oxygen based fermentation and no oxygen without anaerobic. >> [clears throat] >> So the again put it in perspective the wellness of anaerobic bacteria is one. This is >> [laughter] >> 100 >> 100 with the roots and tubers.
(22:23) With the grains it is we are somewhere in 1 lakh 10 lakh range. That's that's the clear thing. And it's all happening because of the fiber. >> Correct. Yeah. >> And sadly the whole modern food corporate culture has eliminated >> Eliminated it. We are so focused on protein >> protein this and that and high carb low carb all these are actually jugglery of words.
(22:48) They do not mean any wellness. >> [laughter] >> True. Now now slowly people are rising to this fiber consciousness. >> Fiber consciousness [laughter] is a very good term. >> Sir but >> It's like higher consciousness. >> [laughter] >> Higher consciousness. >> Fiber consciousness. >> Fiber consciousness. >> So, we are generating >> [laughter] >> higher consciousness.
(23:09) A great Yeah, that's good. >> Yeah. So, but in ambli we end up having it like with so much of water where the ambli is less like the the grains are less. >> The grains are 5 g and water is 500 ml. Why? >> Why? >> We need oxygen. >> Right. >> So, if you have 50 g and 500 ml, you're going to make it semi-solid. >> Right. >> So, the oxygen is not enough that is in the 500 ml.
(23:37) That's why we release amount of grain, a lot of water. So, the oxygen dissolved in water is helping the microbes grow on these grains. So, now the grains have become microbial factory. So, it releases into the the microbes are coming into the water. Again, this factory is here. >> Process. >> Process. So, the 5 g will fill your 500 ml of And where does the real oxygen come from? As you use it is absorbed.
(24:04) That's why we want it to be in a mud pot. >> Uh because also the flow of air and it allows the oxygen >> in the micro pores available in the mud pot. If you do it in a steel vessel, it doesn't happen. >> Right. Yeah. It's covered. >> Covered and it is anaerobic. >> Okay. >> Once the amount of oxygen dissolved in that water is over, there is no oxygen.
(24:24) >> Right. >> That's why we need a mud pot and a muslin cloth. Right. This is the technical reason why you do prepare ambli only in mud pot and with a muslin cloth, not a plastic cloth. >> Right. >> [laughter] >> Now, nobody Now, anything >> Quality, anything. >> [laughter] >> Everything is plastic.
(24:45) You even have plastic banana leaves. >> Right. Oh, yes. [laughter] Yes, there are lots of hotels that are serving that >> Yes, that way. So, >> But it is essential to drink that water also. >> You have to drink that only. In fact, you you don't you may not even take that grain. >> Oh, really? So, the >> You can take that.
(25:01) Yeah, the real microbial population now is floating in that >> water. >> Uh it was transparent before you cook. Now, after 8 hours, it becomes translucent, you know? >> Yes. >> Oh, so that's the other way around. I was thinking it that because of the hydrochloric acid in the stomach, it dilutes the acid and >> No, no.
(25:22) When we drink, there is no HCL production at all. And that is another reason why we want you to have drink. >> Ah. >> Humbly is not to be eaten. >> Correct. >> So, you have 1 or 2 g now in that 200 ml. You just mix and gulp it. >> Gulp it. >> So, the pyloric sphincter, >> Ah. >> if it senses solid, it closes. >> Okay, that sphincter Can you say what what does it mean? >> And then you have small intestine.
(25:50) In between the stomach entering into the intestinal area, >> Right. >> there is a sphincter which closes. >> Right. >> When you eat. >> Uh-huh. >> Otherwise, without digestion, it will go into the intestine. >> Intestine directly. >> Yeah. >> So, semi-solid, solid will have to negotiate this pyloric sphincter. >> Okay.
(26:10) >> Once it closes, nothing will open unless this digestion is over. >> Okay. >> The first process of digestion is your acid rush. >> Right. >> HCL comes. And that is to set the gut microbiome which has the access to your brain, to your skin.

(58:07) So, the rooting soil is very important for forest to grow. That is the top 4-5 inch. (58:31) You cannot take a thing and put inside the earth and say we will grow. So, who will protect the top soil is millets. It's not just your health. It is the health of the soil, the top 4-5 inch. See, the reason now when it rains, the topsoil becomes heavy, the lower soil is not heavy and that's why the Now, if you have millet the water is seeping in and the topsoil is less heavy than the lower soil. That's it. >> So, there is also this saying that people who have to who are now having this excess amount of protein, some of them are also seeing some kidney issues.

And in fact you don't need to have even grains sometimes. In fact all our sadhus lived on roots and tubers. >> Really, huh? >> Yeah, most of their food.
(1:29:40) >> No grains, huh? They don't eat anaj. >> they didn't. Not that they didn't eat anaj. It is that they took time to cook and do all that. These things don't require. They just put it in the sun or they just steam or they just burn on the fire and then eat it. And they didn't have a place or >> Right. >> They are all nomadic life sadhus.
(1:30:03) >> Yeah, sadhus. >> Used to walk around and all that. I mean they never had a place to live. Uh they lived in forest and things. So, their food was basically this and that's what sustained them. And in fact, it is this tuberous consumption really gave away, according to me, brain itself developed because the gut microbes came and then the connection between gut and brain axis.
(1:30:29) Your nerves got totally into different consciousness. And of course, through sadhana and and this food is very important. Roots and tubers. >> So, you're saying that that also helps them in their sadhana? >> Of course. Of course. Of course. And then the millets, of course, gives complete-ness. And this is the what food should be.
(1:30:54) >> So, millets, vegetables, and tubers? >> Correct. >> Fruits as well? >> Yeah, fruits come into the vegetable group itself. Yeah. Nascent fiber we have. So, this is our complete food. I think that will keep everyone healthy. And we can in fact create build disease-free society. >> Oils? What oils do you This is a huge debate all over.
(1:31:16) >> Yeah, [laughter] and oils, local oils. Again, local oils. Olive oil is great. This oil is all nonsense. You are in Italy, you can grow olives, you have olive oil. I am in Anantapuram, I grow groundnuts, I'll have groundnut oil. I am in Kerala, I get lot of coconuts, you have coconut oil. >> But no need to rotate? You can.
(1:31:38) >> If you get, you rotate. The better the more the better. >> The diverse >> Diversity is the first definition of You need to have different things. Same thing repeating may not be as good as >> Yeah. >> rotating. So, all oils are good. There is no number one, number two, number three. All are good.
(1:31:59) So, for Kerala people, you have coconut oil. They have lived thousands of years. >> Yeah, and they I like I like to eat the food. [laughter] I don't know why I love the taste of that food. >> No, all are tasty. It's a question of getting used to. And then you go to northern cold areas, they have mustard. They grow mustard oil is good.
(1:32:16) So, oils are good. But the processing is what defines whether it is going to do good for you or not. If you process through machines, the curative healing power of oils are destroyed. >> So, cold pressed. >> I don't like cold pressed also. They are still using machines and saying that it is cold pressed. I would love everyone to get back to our olden style of bull driven oils where there is no RPM.
(1:32:44) Almost slowly it rotates. And it is the pressure only acting, no temperature increase because we use wooden ganis. >> So, that how that that affects the oil, the temperature? >> Absolutely. >> Oh, I thought >> And the lignan the wood >> Right. Oh my god. >> That adds that anti-inflammatory conditions to each and every oil that you produce there.
(1:33:09) >> Amazing. >> Amazing techniques that our ancestors used. That's why bull driven wood gani oil oil is the best. I don't care what oil. You can if you have olive seeds now in your house put that and get that oil. If you have till oil. >> Yeah. >> And that way if you ask till oil is one of the best oils. Especially for women, skin, all these good things are there.
(1:33:38) So, all oils are good. Use in moderation. >> Correct. >> Yeah, because oils are the storage products. So, if you have excess glucose, you are going to convert it into fats. >> Fats. >> So, you do not want to eat more fat because already this process is going on. >> Is is going, yeah. >> So, use in moderation. Each one needs around 15 to 30 ml of oil.

Because now everybody is doing intermittent fasting. >> Yeah, because people have all overeaten. >> [laughter] >> And fasting is one important way of keeping your body rest. And of course our ancestors have been telling you once in 14 days that the Ekadashi they have fixed.
(1:34:46) >> Ekadashi. >> You better fast. So, on 24 hours don't eat. And drink water so that your body gets detox in the modern slang. >> Detox. >> [laughter] >> But what about intermittent fasting, sir? >> All that There's nothing like intermittent but all that bypass. I don't I don't believe in any of that. You want to fast, fast one full day.
(1:35:12) And the problem with all this is you are eating too much. That's why you need this. If you eat moderately on a regular basis then these problems do not arise. But all said and done, once in 2 weeks fasting is very good for everyone. Not for young people, growing people and all. Once you are above 40, you better make it a habit.
(1:35:35) And of course religious tones are there. Sometimes you have to do 36 hours and there are various things that I don't want to comment because too much fasting is not good. >> Because now we feel that everyone is doing it equally. >> not >> good. It's not good. So, once in 2 weeks >> Right. >> you fast 1 day. Not just 12 hours.
(1:36:02) It should be 24 hours. I mean, don't count the sleeping time as fasting. >> [laughter] >> In intermittent that is counted as fasting. >> That's what I mean. >> So, it makes it easy. >> That's not real fasting. You're anyway doing 12 hours and you can't That No, that's not right. So, what I mean is if you eat today or today morning, don't eat till tomorrow morning.
(1:36:22) >> Mhm. >> So, you're really >> giving 24 hours. >> 24 hours. And then I would go one step ahead as you grow old, I mean, above age 40 to 50, keep it up to the night. That means 36 hours. Removing the 12 hours makes it 24 hours of real fast. That is That is logical, >> [laughter] >> but I don't want everyone to jump in.
(1:36:47) Slowly start. Say now you have eaten today morning, then eat in the evening little bit for few weeks. Then after 1 year of that kind of fast That means you have skipped one meal. Though we should not have been eating, but we are eating. So, you get used to that. Then skip the night food also till morning breakfast you don't eat anything.
(1:37:09) Then you do that for some time and then extend it to next today lunch time. That means you skip the breakfast of the next today and then eat lunch. Then after another few months, skip that also and eat the night dinner. This is the way you do. That is the best results it will give you. So, don't jump into fasting cycles.
(1:37:34) Everything has to be done slowly, steadily, moderation. That means balance. So, don't hurry to do anything. Do things slowly. Everything has to be done slowly, steadily, moderation. What is your >> There is a small incident. You see, one of the British doctors went to Africa, I believe somewhere in '90s, and then he found in some villages the African women having goiter.
(1:38:25) That means some >> Yeah, that >> near the thyroid. Then he asked, "What do you eat?" They said foxtail millet. Then he came back to England and wrote an article. Millets are goitrogenous and they cause thyroid problem. >> Without investigating. >> That's it. This isn't the real story. Now, you ask thyroid millets are bad and all.
