The incident occurred in Zambia, in the South Luangwa National Park. Hungry lionesses surrounded a stray young elephant from the herd and launched an attack. 

Tourists were watching the scene. They were sure that the young animal would die now. However, the elephant turned out to be resourceful: choosing the right moment, he ran into the water right with one of the lionesses on his back. When the lionesses began to chase him in the water, he turned around and chased them himself. 

This event surprised not only tourists, but also specialists. Joyce Poole, an expert at National Geographic, said that he knows only one such case, but he is inferior to this incident.
