(00:00) Did you graduate or finish B.Tech in 2025 or 26? Are you waiting for a software job? Then join the Code Gyaan 100-day course and land a job. Namaste Priya Choudhary garu. Namaste, amma. It can be said that pre-wedding shoots have become a huge trend lately. It is no exaggeration to say that people are spending as much on a pre-wedding shoot as they are on a wedding.
(00:25) But a small reel has been going very viral recently . It can be said that the incident where a father was deeply hurt has moved us all. What are the benefits of this pre-wedding shoot, what are the downsides, and what would you say to the youth? The thing is, as the old saying goes, when madness reaches its peak, one might even tie a pestle to their head.
(00:52) If we tell them to get married according to traditional scriptures, they stop valuing the word 'marriage' and the bond itself, and instead, today's youth have developed an obsession with spending extravagantly on pre-wedding shoots, post-wedding shoots, bachelor parties, mehendi, and sangeet ceremonies.
(01:17) Especially, I wouldn't even blame the youth; I would rather talk about the elders who cannot control the youth. You might ask why? Because of how the family system is being torn apart today. Even if they spend 100 crores on a wedding, we know —if you ask us, we can tell you. They are climbing the steps of the divorce court by the third day, the third month , or coming to us for counseling by the third week.
(01:45) The reason is that they don't know what a bond means. That bond is not present in their minds. Having stopped giving value to it...look at it today, okay, they are doing these pre-wedding shoots, right? They could just die in those. Don't misunderstand me for speaking like this. Then look at the wedding, they invite 500, 1000, or 2000 people.
(02:09) They serve exactly 100 types of dishes; everything is fine. Why did you invite 2000, 100, or 500 friends and relatives? Why did you serve them food? You invited them for your son's or daughter's wedding, but are you giving the guests any space to actually watch the wedding? Tell me, there are only cameramen all around. They are surrounded only by them.
(02:36) Another thing is, I would call this recent trend disgusting and fraudulent behavior—let whoever wants to get angry get angry—how does a bride come to the wedding mandapam? She comes dancing and prancing. Is this a movie shoot or a wedding? Do you know one thing, amma? The Supreme Court recently cited the sanctity of Vedic mantras.
(03:03) For the Hindu Marriage Act to be applicable and valid, the court clearly cited that the marriage must be performed traditionally amidst Vedic mantras, with the saptapadi (seven steps), circling the fire, tying the knot, and holding hands while witnessing those vows—only then does the marriage fall under the scope of the Hindu Marriage Act.
(03:28) Yes, who cares today? Do you think anyone wants that? All these people, for all the disasters that burn up their lives, ultimately end up on those court steps. When the higher courts and the judiciary have so clearly stated that they only recognize a marriage if it values our traditions, how can weddings today feature a bride dancing her way in? Does the groom come prancing around as well? And another thing, do you have to start kissing each other the moment the wedding pendant is tied? Tell me, are these youth dying to act out without even a
(04:08) bit of awareness or common sense regarding what should happen where? Who is supposed to tell them all this? What are the elders doing? They sit there clapping, looking like fools...I am telling you the truth, by turning the ritual of marriage and that bond into a laughingstock, throwing it on the street, and treating weddings like film shoots—instead of two families coming together to form a bond where two individuals unite to begin a new life and build a family—all in the name of pre-wedding shoots, this madness has
(04:44) reached a thousand levels; it is pure insanity! What is with the mud? Why are you jumping into mud pits, dear? Or is there somewhere else you want to jump? Are you puffing cigarettes in each other's mouths? If these aren't distortions, are they forms? Tell me, are these decorations? They call these
(05:20) distortions "decorations"...The authentic sound of Vedic chants, which invokes the five elements to unite your bond—those incredible sounds—touch your aura and establish a marital bond between the two of you. Similarly, when the cumin and jaggery are placed on the head during the tying of the pendant, that first touch between the bride and the groom creates a thrill in their minds.
(06:01) That thrill makes their auras meet and touch; and the pride the groom feels while tying the pendant—the feeling that "I am making her my wife, I am becoming a man today"—gives him a sense of responsibility. Likewise, in the mind of the bride as she bows her head to receive the pendant... "From today, this pendant on my chest gives me a bond, a responsibility, and security in this society.
(06:37) " She holds it close to her heart because, "This is my security; it makes me strong so no scoundrel can touch me, no one can mess with me, and no one can look down on me or see me as weak," and that is why she holds it so securely. That is its meaning. Likewise, "Dharmecha Arthecha Kamecha Mokshecha Naaticharaami.
(07:00) " I will not forsake you in the pursuit of Dharma, Artha, Kama, and Moksha. In Kama, I will cooperate in fulfilling your desires. And in Moksha, I will show you the same paths to salvation that I seek for myself. I will not leave you even there— "Naaticharaami" —but when they hold hands to take that vow, the cameraman is there shouting, "Sir, hold it like this, don't hold it like that, move it up, down, to the side," trampling over the sanctity of the moment with his boots.
(07:35) I am not blaming the cameraman; that is their profession. I mean, who is trampling over it with boots...it is the people who forget the ritual and encourage this, my dear, look at how much! All the time, it is just the direction of the cameramen that goes on there. The bride and groom are only concerned about how they look on camera .
(07:58) After the wedding knot is tied, instead of cherishing the beautiful tingling feeling in their hearts and sharing that intimate emotion, they have started kissing each other; things are only beautiful when kept sacred, dear. Do you understand, mother? Anything given as a surprise is wonderful; if it’s promised and built up beforehand, it’s even more magnificent.
(08:21) You grew up eating morsels fed by your mother and experiencing everything under her care. So, when you think about your life partner promising you everything, how happy would you be, and where should that be shared? Just because the bathroom is clean, would you take your plate of food inside and eat there, dear? No matter how clean it is, you only use the bathroom for its intended purpose; you eat where you are supposed to eat.
(08:47) You wouldn't do that just because it's clean. Similarly, because cultural boundaries have been crossed, man has crossed his own limits . What limits has he crossed? We thought he only crossed the country's borders, but he has crossed traditional boundaries as well, and by displaying these kinds of deformities—as I called them earlier—nature will definitely teach them a lesson, it surely will.
(09:18) Because everything has certain limits and certain privacies. That sense of privacy is beautiful for any human being; some privacies strengthen hearts and sustain relationships. None of these things are ours. I don’t know where these pre-wedding shoots even came from. A woman, a wedding planner, justified it so well, saying "we must have a pre-wedding shoot," but this was created by wedding event planners because they need the work.
(09:58) They have forcibly brought traditions from elsewhere and imposed them into our marriage system today; they have forced them in. Our elders have bowed down to all these fads and have completely opened the doors to them. Once opened, they have openly entered our lives. Mother, does anyone know why a bride sits and performs Gauri Puja before the wedding? I will tell you the meaning as I know it.
(10:29) When she performs that Gauri Puja, she prays to the Goddess, asking for protection in every way as she steps into a new life and a new relationship. She carries the energy of that prayer with her when she comes to you. Yes. Are you taking her or just taking photos? By opening doors to traditions that are not our own, just for the sake of show, you are fueling the rise in divorces—Western culture is growing, and today, not a single person has peace of mind.
(11:10) Usha, I will tell you one thing; this happened in my relative's house, and all these parents were exactly like this. When it happened, all the elders from the village gathered around. There were 15 to 20 cameramen. Only cameras were moving around. While they were moving about, they asked the bride's mother, " Mother, please ask them to move aside; we can't see our granddaughter.
(11:29) " She replied, "It's okay, you can be seen anytime.""We will see everything in the cameras for the rest of our lives anyway," said that mother, prioritizing the cameras. That mother. They sighed from behind and said, "Oh! If you treat a child like that, will the joy remain in this camera for the rest of their lives? Won't you share this experience with your own people? You are experiencing things through cameras, but what kind of experience are you giving to these cameras? What kind of value are you giving to your
(11:59) relationships?" Meaning, people have stopped valuing relationships these days. What is happening nowadays? They say the mother-in-law is dancing at the wedding. Have you no shame, madam? Why is the mother-in-law dancing wildly at the wedding? I don't understand...when did this start? When? Play music on the day two families become one.
(12:18) No one has an objection to that. Celebrate on the 16 th-day ceremony when everyone gathers and gets close; even if there are differences, they fade away. Have such a celebration. People are dancing wildly even before the wedding. They are drinking before the wedding too. Recently, I heard that at a wedding, all the men went to one side and the women to another.
(12:38) What is this, men on one side and women on another? In the past, that’s how meals were served. First the men would eat, then the women would eat. Oh! I thought, "Maybe they are serving them separately," and I said to someone nearby, "That's a good practice." They asked, "Why do you think they are going there?" I asked.
(12:53) " Why, madam?" I said. "There is a liquor party there." Is this tradition anywhere? For 16 days, from the moment the engagement is finalized until the 16 th-day ceremony after the wedding, no one touches non-veg or alcohol; there is discipline in that house. There is no room for certain addictions , and they don't allow certain energies to enter; they are very strict about it .
(13:19) What is this! Drinking at a wedding, and setting up a separate section just to drink? Where is this nonsense? Where is this extremity? Where are we heading ? I am telling you honestly, these are unbridled thoughts. In the name of tradition, they have bundled up all customs and thrown them away. What is happening today are just "doll weddings .
(13:40) " When we played with dolls in our childhood, we would remove the saree if we didn't like it, or take off the arm if it didn't look right, or change the bindi if it didn't suit us. We would conduct doll weddings however we liked. Today's weddings are nothing but doll weddings, not weddings that sustain relationships. As mentioned, whenever a pre-wedding shoot happens, we see that too, madam.
(14:02) Whatever is supposed to happen behind closed doors is being turned into a public show. It's all over, madam. You mentioned a reel where a father was pained, right? What it means is... "Oh, I saw my daughter in a bikini in that beach shoot, and today the wedding is called off.
(14:21) He is a villain, but if my daughter had been in the saree she was meant to wear, I would have been happy. All these bikini shoots are going viral on social media; I cannot look at my child with those eyes for the rest of my life," that is what the father was pained about! But leaving aside the pained father, I am speaking to all those fathers who feel no pain and are even encouraging this: Mr. and Mrs.
(14:45) , teach your children our traditions. You will live happily in the future. You will build a family of your own. Ignoring traditions, they bring in Western nonsense under the guise of tradition, all for someone’s livelihood; these fake rituals are a waste of time and money, leaving today's marriages as nothing more than a passing phase.
(15:17) All this circulates on social media tomorrow, and even if they want to start a new life, it's terrifying; I’m telling you today, second and third marriages are happening at an alarming rate. No one is happy, and no one has peace of mind. Those who lived together in a single marriage in the past were truly wonderful.
(15:35) Whether they faced hardships or losses, they lived their lives to the very end with a sense of contentment. The satisfaction of being in a family and having relatives around ; today you bond with one family for six months, and after six years, another—who are your relatives, what is your family, what do you call yourself, and where is your address?
