(00:02) Swathi from Rajahmundry called and asked, "Ajju garu, how should phone conversations be and to what extent should we talk to maintain good relationships?" This is because Swathi received a phone call today, and the conversation left her stressed, troubled, and robbed her of her peace of mind.
(00:27) So, since she asked how the conversations should be, let's try to find an answer to that question. Usually, when someone calls you, they start by asking pleasantries, which is natural. That is, "How are you? How is your health? What did you do today? How are mom and dad? How is their health? Did you eat anything yet?" These are all the questions they ask, right, the pleasantries.
(00:52) After asking all these questions, one specific question follows. Those who don't answer that question, but instead say they have some work and cut the call to focus on their tasks, will have wonderful relationships in their lives. What is that question? It is, "What else?" That is the question that comes up. After all the pleasantries are exchanged, a question like "What else, buddy?" comes up.
(01:15) Whoever cuts the call the moment that question is asked will have a wonderful life. Why? Because the phrase "What else?" only comes up when there is nothing left to talk about. It means , "I have talked about everything necessary, there is nothing left to say , tell me something," and that is when the term "What else?" is used.
(01:34) And what do you say then? "Hey, this happened in such and such a place, that happened in that house, this happened next door, that happened across the street"—you bring up all sorts of unnecessary topics. Is it necessary? Talk about necessary things and leave the unnecessary things aside. Therefore, whenever the phrase "What else?" enters your life—whether it comes in the form of a phone call or a person in front of you asks it—immediately step away and focus on your work, and your relationships will be wonderful.
(02:10) Believe me, that is what I do. I only talk for two to three hours a day; even in that, this is what I do. If anyone asks, "What else?", I say I have some work and cut the call. It is okay even if it is a white lie, just say you have some work. Because that is when all sorts of pointless topics start coming up.
(02:30) If you want to have good relationships in life, as soon as the " What else?" question arises, cut the conversation there, cut the talk right there. So, your relationships in life will be wonderful, okay?
