(00:02) Welcome back [music] my friends. Today I'm going to talk something about very important. We all know about it [music] verbally but many people have been struggling because of that particular reason. So let's dive deep into a struggle that is as old as humanity itself. That word is universal and everyone has some connection with that and everyone is getting impacted by it
(00:47) also. That word is attachment. Okay, it is not that easy if someone [music] said that live without attachment but it is not that easy to implement. For example, I I don't have any attachment and I have gone through many many many psychological problems. I have done a great deal of inquiry into my own you know thought process.
(01:28) Then finally I came to a conclusion that how this word can be understood and how we can live a simple peaceful [music] life you know without having any anxiety agony or self blame and this and that. Okay. All right. So before we understand how to deal with it, let us look at the word itself. The word attachment comes from the old French root [music] word attachier which literally means to fasten.
(02:11) You might have traveled in flight right? So the flight attendant with beautiful voice says that please fasten your seat belts. It means tie yourself or stake to the ground. So attachment is it's like you are trying yourself with a rope. You are limiting yourself with a thought. That's all. So that is the the word and its root and its meaning and people are crazy without even knowing the meaning of it. They are
(02:58) deeply attached with something or other. So think about that image for a moment. So let me explain again. So you have a rope. You have taken a rope, tied it around your own self, your own soul, your own body and you staped it [music] or tethered it to something outside of you. It's like [music] you're absolutely free when you were born and by and by by and by you are trapped in this phenomena called attachment.
(03:38) You tied yourself with a rope and you staked that rope to a pole and now you are struggling to move freely and whenever that external object moves you get pulled [music] towards it. When it breaks a piece of you breaks and then many many psychological problems occur. >> [snorts] >> So friends, look around. Look around yourself.
(04:09) Almost every piece of suffering we experience or anybody experience boils down to this single phenomenon called attachment. We tie and fasten our happiness to people and jobs, money, name and fame. All that crap which we think is meaningful have some significance but it has none. And we have been living in constant lowkey terror of the rope being snapped.
(04:48) It is a kind of terror only because many people come to me and say the same thing. A mother has a problem with the son. A wife has a problem with the husband. And a professional has a problem with his rank and his boss. And some having problem with societal problems and they don't know how to get out of it. So I also thought there must be a way out.
(05:25) And people say blatantly that without attachment what is the purpose of life? Attachment should be there but there is cannot be suffering. And initially from thousands of years there was no answer. Just detach yourself detox [music] yourself from all toxicities and free yourself. People have said many great masters have said Rab Maharishi [music] Krishna Morty and everybody.
(05:57) So for centuries great spiritual masters have stood on their podium and given the exact same advice. Drop your attachments. Cut the ropes. Detach [music] yourself. But how? If it is a physical rope then you can cut or you can ask somebody to cut. But this is psychological phenomena. So let's be honest for a moment.
(06:33) How many of us can actually do that? Follow that piece of advice. [sighs] H we are after all human. Our very [music] nature is to love, to be loved, to hold on and to connect. Asking a human being or begging, beseeching a human being to completely stop attaching is like asking a river to stop flowing.
(07:01) It feels horrible and impossible. But what if the problem is not the act of tying the rope but what [music] if the problem is simply the post to which we are trying it. So attachment you can tie a rope to your body no problem. But you tie that rope to a pole or a stone or a burden or an ambition or glory or self-loathing name and fame. Then comes the problem.
(07:47) So today I want to share a radical new generation perspective that you want you won't find in ancient scriptures. And I have given this piece of advice to many people and they have implemented it and they have seen their life in a new light. If your heart demands that you [music] attach to something, I say do it but do it wisely.
(08:22) So this is a radical shift. And I call it the unsnaturable relationship. Here is the secret my friends. This particular part of this podcast, listen to it carefully. Think about it. Ponder over it. Then be attached without experiencing any suffering. The secret is this. If you must attach, attach to something [music] that no one on earth can ever snatch away from you.
(09:04) Tie your rope to something that cannot be broken. Simple as that. Let me explain. Instead of attaching yourself to a person who might leave or a material possession that will fade. Turn your gaze upward and outward. Attach yourself to the cosmos. Attach yourself to [music] the eternal. those elements of nature.
(09:37) No one can snatch [music] our own or steal away from you. And don't just look at them from a distance. Personalize them. Give them a name. Bring them into your family. The biggest myth and a lie is having attachment only [music] with human beings. Thinking only human beings are of our family is ignorance. If you feel a deep connection to the sun, let it be your son.
(10:24) The two words s u in sun and sy sun and give that give a beautiful name [music] to that sun which is shining bright up in the sky. Consider that sun as your son and give a name him suri. Wake up every morning look at the horizon and say good morning Suri. So no one can steal your son and the sun is not going to go away from you.
(10:54) And if you want to talk about him, don't say that you are talking about the sun which is in the sky. You talk about as if you are talking about your own son, your own family member. Say that you know I without looking at him every day I can't live. He is available to me all the time. without my son helps everybody in the universe.
(11:24) Something like that. If you go to Arunachalam, there is a mountain. Consider that mountain [music] your daughter. Simple [music] advice changes the whole's perspective. So give that big mountain a name and consider as your daughter Aruna. So when you go to Arunachalam say to people that I'm going to visit [music] my daughter.
(12:07) Don't say that it is a mountain right even the whole world humanity fade away from the face of earth your daughter going [music] to be there forever that gives a kind of peace. So when you have an attachment with the sun and the wind and are the mountains, you are playing a game of love where you can never lose.
(12:41) No one can divorce the sun. No one can bankrupt the wind. No one can fire you from the mountain. They're absolutely yours and eternally yours. I have great attachment with the air. No one can snatch it away from me. Whenever I go to Arnachala, I see mountain as if it's my daughter. A personal connection been established. So that's what wisdom is.
(13:18) So throughout the history the wise have warned us about the implement of impermanence of the world. They all [music] said this the world is impermanent. This there's no absolute truth. No one can deny it. [music] But the masters always told us to stop doing without giving our deeply emotional minds a safe place to land.
(13:46) So I am giving a new idea that land in a safe place. Tie yourself with something [music] which is eternal. [snorts] That is why this new [music] generation idea changes the game. We are not fighting our nature by [music] forcing ourselves to be cold and detached. We are simply redirecting our devotion to things that are infinite, bulletproof and eternal.
(14:16) [snorts] There is a story the woman and her eternal companion. Let me share a quick story to show you how powerful this [music] shift can be. There was once a woman who suffered from immense anxiety. She was constantly terrified of losing her husband, her friends and her home. The fear of lose, the fear of loss paralyzed her.
(14:47) She went to a mystic and cried, "How do I stop holding on to something so tightly?" The mystical did not tell her to meditate in a cave. Instead, he pointed out of the window to a massive ancient oak tree standing in the courtyard. He said, "For the next month, I want you to adopt this tree as your grandfather.
(15:12) [music] Name him, talk to him, pour your worries into his roots and offer some water as if you are [music] offering some fruit to your husband or your beloved." She called the tree [music] dada baba. Every [clears throat] evening she sat by its trunk sharing her deepest fears. Slowly a miracle happened. [snorts] She realized that while people in her life came and [music] went, Dada Baba was always there for her.
(15:47) Unmoving, deeply rooted, offering shade without asking for anything in return. By anchoring a part of her emotional need to something unshakable, her anxiety about the fra fragile human world completely vanished. She found her anchor. So this is my invitation to your freedom. My friends, [music] let us stop fighting our longing for connection.
(16:19) Let us stop you [music] know beating ourselves because we can't achieve total monk like detachment. [music] It is not possible for everybody. Few people may have achieved and good for them and that advice drop everything drop all attachments may not be the good advice for an ordinary mind. Be attached love deeply but choose an eternal partner.
(16:46) So go out today, find your mountains, find your star, find your breeze, give them a name, claim them as your own because when you attach to the infinite, your peace becomes infinite too. This advice can be implemented this very moment. Just look out in the open through the window. You may find [music] a tree or a mountain or a rock.
(17:27) That's why many people have attached themselves [music] to God but they start seeking. So stop seeking and be attached. So this is what I do and this is the advice I have given to people who come to visit me and this suggestion helped many people. I request you to [music] do the same and you see the difference within and if possible give the same advice to those [music] people who have attached with people.
(18:10) Be with people without attachment. But if you really want to establish a kind of connection and a deep rooted attachment, find something eternal and be attached with it. Even you are gone, your family member is there outside. No one can snatch or steal from you. If you consider the big star son as your son, who is there to you know occupy it or snatch away from it? If someone also considering him as son that's not your problem it is their problem. Don't stop
(18:54) don't fight with people and it is not philosophy either. This is a practical understanding anyone can do it. So who he who binds to himself a joy does the winged life [music] destroy but he who kisses the joy as it flies lives in eternity sunrise said William Blake join Mur said
(19:40) the mountains are calling and I must So don't give too much importance to people. They are going [music] to go away. A small reason is enough. You cannot catch hold of [music] them eternally. Okay. Thank you for listening and I'll catch you in the next episode. Stay blessed, be happy wherever you are and do your stuff without any interruption.
(20:25) Flow like the river Ganga. Shine like the sun and stay calm [music] like the moon and stay rooted like a huge tree and play [music] like a wind. It is not that complex to understand. It is so simple. Just change the direction and you will definitely get the peace you desire.
